The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta is the oldest of the IIM’s and is ranked number one in the country academically. As a global centre of excellence the Institute will increase its student body and its faculty. Research, consulting and training will increase. Envisioning long term growth a campus master plan was prepared respecting the fragile ecology of islands, water bodies and land masses. Vehicles are relegated to the periphery creating a pedestrian campus. A new academic research and teaching complex is mirrored by a new training and consulting complex which, with the library, form a dramatic academic quadrangle. A large lecture hall complex holds the other end of the academic quadrangle, a Catering centre; Executive management centre and student residential halls are now under construction.
