The structure plan of gelephu is more
than a growth center; it is the focal point of bhutan’s future
manufacturing sector, which will attract global investment, with highly
skilled blue collar labors, transport, energy, water and developed industrial
plots. The plan will create a new entertainment and retail hub, to support
a future managerial community; enhanced roads and bye-pass highway;
segment of the new east-west southern regional highway; open space system
for sports, recreation and gardens; urban villages linked through finger-like
green cycle and walkways, river training for the mao chhu and a multi-modal
transport terminal wherein rail, air, bus and taxi services use the
same terminal facilities. Separate cargo and vehicular gateways will
facilitate tourists visiting the country. an expressway between the
administrative town of sarpang and the growth center of gelephu will
serve the industrial estate, transport hub, dry port, duty free zone,
transport repair and servicing center and container center.
