| Centre for Neurological Disorders and Complimentary Medicine. | |||
| The Center for Neurological Disorders and Complimentary Medicine applies aurvedic medicines to improve the lives of specially able children. The centre also carries out research, runs seminars and imparts training in alternative medicines. The composition of the building creates two meandering narrow movement lanes which provide shade and also direct the cool breezes from the west into the building fabric. Perched on top a small hill, the walls are oriented to frame views outward and into secluded courtyards. The composition has its roots in some of the visual experiments which emerged in the united world college, where angular walls focus and re-orient those moving through spaces. The uniformity of the rectangle and the tyranny of cartesian thinking are purposefully abandoned. A new order of intersecting and interlocking spaces is established. One space merges as part of another, making it possible to move 'seamlessly' through a series of visual and tactile events. while this physical integration is catalyzed by the geometry, the visual experience is very porous, with glass walls making atomized physical and separate functional compartments, into unified special units. |
